 Inspiration

I went walking in the fields yesterday and loved the feeling of the wind hitting my face, feeling the earlier night closing in, whilst the birds made their calls interspersed with the sounds of owls hunting, swooshing across the fields in a blur of brown and white

These photos don't do it justice. They don't quite show how big the sky is, how wide the horizon is

I loved it and I hope you do too.

Such a lovely country

 Swirls

So yesterday i decided to try something abstract but different to the sort of thing I’ve been doing for a while.

I had in my mind something like flowing streams of light coming up from below and towards the top of the canvas.

So this is how it started

I didn't like it so started playing with colours

which ended like this

I quite like it. ill leave it for a while and see if I like it in a week or so.

 Current Work

It’s been nice doing some new work, in a very abstract type of painting.  There’s been lots going on in the last few years and this sort of depicts some of that, not explicitly but there are some bits to it

The inspiration was this picture I took

and it changed from day to day in the following way as I played with colour and especially texture of layers and layers of paint.

I was trying to bring out things from the last 5-10 years in the painting and I think I did

 Graffiti

I think I mentioned during the post about my trip at the end of last year that one of the things I really enjoy about visiting different cities, is the amazing graffiti I keep finding in the most different places.

I wandered about in London on a leaving do in February and found a lot of stuff I hadn’t seen, and then the last time I was in London and then Ipswich I found some really lovely paintings

I just like the artistry in it, leaving aside anything about vandalism etc its how someone can turn an otherwise boring and rough wall into a thing of beauty.

These are from Ipswich

These are just some of them but I really enjoy finding them when wandering about town

 Darker Artwork

A number of years ago I went through a period of drawing much darker drawings and the same with the paintings I was doing.

There was lots going on in the background which caused this, or that made my emotions react in this way, but these are some of the things I produced.

I think that when my emotions are going a bit wild in a good or bad way, then I do my best work, and when im flat in any way, whether just moseying along, or flat through exhaustion or emotional overload, I can't create anything really, and what I do looks forced

Complete Abstraction This painting started out as a bit of an abstract painting with a dark background with bright colours on it. Its a lar...
